Standards provide more effective communication between designers, manufacturers, users, managers, customers, and more. International standards allow us to work and compete in the global market place. MIL standards do not cover the latest technologies. For all of these reasons, OEOSC members work with other countries to develop and perfect international standards.
However, few of our own companies are using them! We realize that knowing what’s out there, finding the right standard, and learning standards can be overwhelming without expert guidance. We therefore have an Education and Outreach Committee that offers Courses and Resources to help our colleagues navigate the rich collection of standards.
We hope that standards education eventually becomes, well, standard in the curricula at our US training institutions.
